SHANGHAI, Jun. 23 (SMM) – Lead-acid battery producers still showed little interest in buying raw materials on the first trading day after China’s Dragon Boat Festival, SMM learns.
Only a few battery makers replenished stocks in small amounts June 23, even though most producers have not built stocks before the holiday.
Many lead-acid battery producers were sitting on excess finished/semi finished product inventories, which left them more reluctant to produce during this offseason. Slower battery production cut lead demand.
Increased volatility in SHFE lead prices recently also left downstream producers cautious towards lead purchases.
